I have written the main Swedish essay in this Norwegian-Danish-Swedish collection of texts about migration, democracy and the welfare state. Titled “Skandinavisk uro/Scandinavian Anxiety”, the book takes as its starting-point the dramatic year of 2015 when almost 1,4 million people applied for asylum in Europe. Can the Scandinavian model handle the new waves of migration? ………

My new book about the Swedish condition, the state of affairs in the once most predictable country in the world – “Landet där vad som helst kan hända/The Country Where Anything Might Happen – is a bestseller and has provoked debate. It is a story about migration, segregation and integration, and about a nation that views itself as a model while at the same time being hesitant about promoting its achievements. Sweden used to be a well-planned society, but now it does not seem to have a plan at all. ………

The publication has been followed by lots of invitations to lectures and debates as well as interviews in both national and international media.

In “Sommarens skiraste ljus” (“The Delicate Light of Summer”), battered women in shelters and/or with new identities are interviewed about their experiences with violence and social isolation. The book documents a project run by the Women’s Rights Association in Malmö, Sweden, and an English translation will hopefully be available later in 2014. ………

“Heder och samvete” (“Honour and Conscience”) is written with Eduardo Grutzky, an expert in this field, and deals with the ideology behind the brutal and devastating honour culture. The book also takes a critical look at cultural relativism and the implementation of policies against honour-related repression. The Stockholm daily Dagens Nyheter calls it “a hair-raising testimony about government cowardice in the face of honour violence”. ………
